Sometimes my head is swimming with thoughts, to-do lists, conflicting priorities, memories of the past and worries of the future. Can you relate?
I find it helpful when I’m in this state of overwhelm to meditate, journal, practice yoga, listen to music and/or dance, to talk with my coach, or if she’s not available, to coach myself through the amazing tools I’ve learned through my certifications with Chopra.
What is a Wellbeing Coach?
Wellbeing Coaching is a transformational tool to help you move from wherever you're at to where you want to be. As a coach, we use presence, deep listening, powerful questions, and soul reflections to allow your inner wisdom to come forward and show you the way.
Chopra coaching is quite unique to other life coaching methods in that it beautifully marries a science-based methodology with spirituality in a really exquisite balance. This type of transformational wellbeing coaching encourages you to see yourself as the expert in your own life. You are welcomed on this very open-hearted exploration journey of who you are and what you really want and how you might be getting in your own way.
It’s not the coach imparting wisdom or information, it’s your inner work and we meet you where you’re at and journey alongside you as a witness to your process. As such, you will feel safe and comfortable exploring what is and is not working, and you’ll likely feel a gentle nudge to make progress in the direction of your dreams. A coach provides guidance, paves the way toward future goals, anchors you in the present moment, moves you from status quo to flourishing - however with no promise of results. The results are up to you. The coach guides you toward accepting the way things are and helps with co-creating strategies for moving forward. We listen to your needs and goals offering information as appropriate, help you uncover your own plans and take responsibility for your own results, and steer you in toward deepening trust in your own innate wisdom.
Some things I’ve worked with my coach on are: overwhelm, lack of focus, motivation, goal setting, relationship frustrations, worries about the unknown, integration of anger, frustration, and shame, prioritization, boundaries, lack of self-worth, finding more alignment, being my own inner cheerleader, balance, acceptance of my inner critic, and much more. We get to the root of things and where they are coming from using visualization techniques, somatic processing, guided meditation, and breathing exercises. My ability to be open with my coach comes from a deep trust that I have for her, and the knowing that the more honest and vulnerable I am, the more I can learn and grow with her witnessing awareness. She rarely gives me advice, rather she sees me, reflects back what she sees and intuitively guides me to deeper places within me through profound questions. I am the one who comes up with the helpful tools I can use in my life outside of our coaching conversations, and because of that, the changes last.
How often do you need to talk things out with someone (verbal processing), and the person either makes it about them, offers you advice that you didn’t ask for, or doesn’t seem to be actually listening to you? If you’re seeking someone who will put everything aside for you, hold space for you, listen to your deepest fears and desires, and give you the control of deciding for yourself what will be the best plan of action, I highly recommend hiring a coach. This person should be someone trustworthy, so it’s helpful to have a free consultation first before jumping into a paid package. I’ve also found that coaching is ongoing, and usually after one or two sessions, more things come up to be worked on making it helpful to have a package that continues over time.
A few last things to note, coaching is different from therapy and differs from teaching and other modalities in an important way: The coach is not the expert in your life - you are! A therapist focuses on healing the past and brings you from suffering to neutral. A teacher holds knowledge and shares information, an expert creates plans and offers expertise and recommendations, and a guru has attained enlightenment and therefore is qualified to lead others to this goal. Basically, the job of a coach is to give you the tools to unlock your inner wisdom. You are already naturally creative, resourceful, and whole – and a coach can help you see that and flourish in self-love and acceptance.
